Ken Baker
President and CEO, TechBroker LLC
Ken Baker, an accomplished auto industry executive, is widely recognized as the 'father' of the EV-1, General Motors' ground-breaking all-electric vehicle. Ken's career at General Motors spanned from 1969-99, and included key roles as Program Manager, GM Electric Vehicles; Vice President, GM Research and Development; and Vice President & General Manager, GM Distributed Energy Business Unit. Ken was Founding Chairman of the United States Advanced Battery Consortium and, while Vice President, GM R&D, was recognized as one of the top 25 research leaders in the world. From 2000-2007, Ken served as President and CEO of Altarum. Ken is a member of the Board of Directors of AeroVironment, Ener1, Millennium Cell, and the National Coalition for Advanced Manufacturing (NACFAM); and a member of the Board of Governors of the Cranbrook Institute of Science.
Jesse Berst
Managing Director, GlobalSmartEnergy
Jesse is an internationally known technology and business analyst. He has authored or co-authored more than a dozen books on technology topics, written hundreds of articles for leading publications, and keynoted dozens of business events in the U.S. and abroad. Jesse is currently Managing Director of GlobalSmartEnergy, which provides high-level strategic consulting to large corporations, utilities, investors, and government agencies. He also serves on the Advisory Council of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and has advised the U.S. Department of Energy, the GridWise Alliance, and the Gonzaga University Transmission & Distribution Program, among others.
Jabe Blumenthal
A Seattle native and resident, Jabe graduated from Yale in 1982 with a degree in Applied Mathematics and went to work for Microsoft, designing the first version of Excel and becoming the company's first Program Manager. In 1994 he left Microsoft to teach mathematics and physics at his alma mater, Lakeside High School in Seattle, where he was the Head of the Science Department until the end of the 2003 school year. Since then he has focused on environmental issues, especially climate change, and progressive politics. He is on the boards of the Bullitt Foundation, Climate Solutions, Washington Environmental Council, and the Progress Alliance.
Reuven Carlyle
Reuven Carlyle is an entrepreneur who has held senior executive and board roles with a number of early stage, venture-backed wireless and software firms. As Vice President of External Affairs at Xypoint, Reuven helped build the company from a small start-up to the largest provider of wireless location services in the world and the leading provider of wireless E911 services in the U.S. Previously, he served as a gubernatorial speechwriter, a press secretary, and public policy specialist. Reuven is currently lead independent director for AirSage, Inc., a provider of real-time nationwide vehicle traffic data. He also serves on the board of Compelling Technologies, Inc. and is an appointee of Gov. Chris Gregoire to the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
KC Golden
Policy Director, Climate Solutions
KC Golden is Policy Director of Climate Solutions, a Seattle-based non-profit whose mission is to accelerate practical and profitable solutions to global warming. From 1999 to 2002, KC was a special assistant to the Mayor of Seattle for clean energy and climate protection initiatives. In that capacity he helped to engineer Seattle City Light's commitment to become the nation's first climate neutral electric power utility and the City's commitment to exceed the goals of the Kyoto protocol. KC was formerly Assistant Director of Washington's Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development, where he directed the Energy Division and the state's energy policy office. From 1989 to 1995, he was Executive Director of the Northwest Energy Coalition, a regional alliance working for a clean, affordable energy future.
Denis Hayes
President and CEO, Bullitt Foundation
Denis Hayes is President and CEO of the Bullitt Foundation, a Seattle-based environmental foundation. Denis was National Coordinator of the first Earth Day in 1970 and remains chair of the International Earth Day Network. During the Carter Administration, Denis directed the federal National Renewable Energy Laboratory. He has been a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center, a senior fellow at the Worldwatch Institute, an adjunct professor of engineering at Stanford University, and a Silicon Valley lawyer. Denis received the national Jefferson Medal for Outstanding Public Service and has also been honored by the National Wildlife Federation, the Humane Society, and the Interfaith Center for Corporate Responsibility, among others. Time magazine selected Denis as one of its "Heroes of the Planet;" and the National Audubon Society included him in its list of the 100 Environmental Heroes of the 20th Century.
David Jumpa
Senior VP, Global Business Development, Airbiquity
David is Senior Vice President of Global Business Development at Airbiquity, which provides reliable and cost-effective transport solutions to the Telematics and M2M markets. David is responsible for business development, sales and marketing, and is credited with starting and leading the execution of Airbiquity's automotive business. Prior to joining Airbiquity, David held prominent positions at Vox Technologies and Xypoint Corporation, where he served as Director of Deployment. He has also led the development of Sprint Cellular's (now Alltel) national wireless data program and has served several other companies in a management or consulting role.
Paul Maritz
CEO, PI Corporation
Paul Maritz is founder and CEO of PI Corporation, a software company specializing in personal information management. Paul spent 14 years at Microsoft where he oversaw the development and marketing of System Software Products (including Windows 95, Windows NT and Windows 2000), Development Tools (Visual Studio) and Database Products (SQL Server), and the complete Office and Exchange Product Lines. He served as a member of Microsoft's Executive Committee that managed the overall company. Prior to joining Microsoft, Paul spent 5 years working at Intel Corporation. Paul currently serves on the board of several privately held software companies and has an active interest in the use of technology in developing countries.
Patrick Mazza

Patrick Mazza is Research Director of Climate Solutions, a Seattle-based non-profit organization whose mission is to accelerate practical and profitable solutions to global warming. Patrick is also a noted writer, having written on ecological sustainability issues for nearly three decades as an environmental journalist and technology policy analyst. Patrick's key papers on emerging clean energy systems include "Powering Up the Smart Grid"; "The Smart Energy Network", "Carrying the Energy Future: Comparing Hydrogen and Electricity for Transmission, Storage and Transportation"; and "The New Harvest: Biofuels and Wind Power for Rural Revitalization and National Energy Security."
Thomas Starrs
Managing Director, Solar, PPM Energy
Dr. Thomas J. (Tom) Starrs is Managing Director of Solar Power for PPM Energy, Inc. Based in Portland, Oregon, PPM is a market leader in providing clean energy solutions across North America, including wind power, gas storage, and energy management services. Tom joined PPM in May 2007 to lead the company's entry into the solar power business.
Prior to PPM, Tom worked for the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, where he served as Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Chief Operating Officer, and then Chief Executive Officer. In some of his earlier lives, Tom was a senior executive for one of the world's largest solar photovoltaic manufacturers, the founder of his own renewable energy consulting firm, and an attorney with the environment and natural resources section of Seattle-based law firm Perkins Coie.
Craig Unger
General Manager, Dynamics CRM Team, Microsoft
Craig Unger is the new General Manager of Microsoft's Dynamics CRM team. Previously, Craig was the founder and General Manager of Microsoft's Member Platform Group. In that role Craig was responsible for the design and development of key building blocks of Microsoft's Online Services such as Microsoft Live ID (Passport), Billing, Settlements, Support, and Massive in-game advertising Platforms. Before founding Microsoft's Member Platform Group, Craig was the Product Unit Manager for Microsoft's Access desktop database product. Under Craig's leadership the Microsoft Access business grew to a billion dollar business serving more than 10 million customers. Prior to working on Microsoft Access, Craig was a Program Manager on Microsoft Excel, designing many features of the Excel product including innovative data analysis features such as Pivot Tables.
Carl Weinberg
Principal, Weinberg Associates
Carl is principal and founder of Weinberg Associates, whose mission is to accelerate the introduction of renewable and distributed power systems. Carl founded Weinberg Associates in 1993, after 19 years with the Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) where he managed and grew an internationally respected energy research and development program. An internationally recognized spokesperson, Carl is chairman of the board for the Renewable Energy Policy Project and the Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP), serves on the Board of the Center for Resource Solutions, and was formerly Chairman of the Independent Review Panel for the PIER program of the California Energy Commission. Prior to joining PG&E, Carl spent 21 years in the US Air Force in various assignments involving research and development management in bioscience in the US, Far East and Europe.
